I’m Jon Hillis, and I’m not your safety guru!
 
I’m not here to organise a fruit bowl and call it risk management. I help duty holders understand their legal obligations, challenge weak explanations and put effective controls into the work actually being done.
 
I’m a former WorkSafe Victoria inspector and Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional, with experience spanning consulting, investigations, regulatory enforcement and operational leadership. My work has taken me across transport, manufacturing, outdoor operations and Defence environments, alongside years of volunteer service. That experience shapes my approach: understand the operation, examine the evidence and give advice people can act on.
 
Through Safety Jon, I bring practical operational and regulatory experience to helping organisations understand risk and improve their controls. I’m serious about risk and allergic to bullshit.
 
Expect direct advice and dry humour, with a clear explanation of what needs attention and why, and respect for people trying to get it right.
